When the glistering lights are finally quenched and darkness creeps in,
you will see the eloquent beauty of life.
Darkness can bring out the tenacity in us.
But are you afraid of the dark?

Everytime right after we turn off the lights, it becomes pitch-black. But after our eyes get used to the darkness, the outlines of our surroundings become clear. The same principle applies in our lives.
Whenever I feel afraid, I try to think of the people I care and love…. and it would make me feel warmer and safer inside
CC: You’re right, those we love and care about are the ones who can pull us through the difficult times.

I’m not I guess.
CC: Good on ya!
October 6th, 2008 at 5:23 am
I don’t think I am. I kinda like it, actually.
CC: Once my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I’d grow to like it.

I thing everyone is afraid of the dark. Unless we have “night vision”, the dark will totally cripple us. And I must admit that I don’t like it when it’s dark. It is as if you are blind and you can only rely on your other senses. My salute(s)to those who are blind. They have some how conquer this fear. So seriously, are you guys afraid of the dark?
CC: Others sense become heighten when we can’t see. It can be pretty empowering. That being said, I do have tremendous respect for those who live in the dark.
October 6th, 2008 at 7:18 am
I think I’m not. There’s something exciting about it..coz if you wait long enough, your eyes will capture enough light for you to see clearer..and enjoy even the dimmest vision.
CC: That can be very exciting!!

Answer:
“Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence…”
CC: Ah, the sounds of silences, the greatest of all.

CC: I have come to love both.
October 6th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
I was afraid of the dark when I went to Aussie alone and stayed with my gf….the room was so dark and so quiet.
Now, dark is good I an sleep better kekeke..
CC: I’m a little afraid of the dark if I’m in somewhere I’m not familiar with.
October 6th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
I can only sleep in the dark…hence I love the dark
CC: I’m adapting to sleep in total darkness nowadays, used to have a little night light, but I heard total darkness is supposedly better for our body.
October 6th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Reckon if I ever have a near death experience, I will almost certainly walk towards to light!
I don’t like the dark…that is when the cockaroaches come out!
CC: Ew…. that’s the worst!
October 6th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Not afraid of the dark but don’t like it either…
CC: I like it when it’s slightly dime.
October 6th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Is that a table lamp? The effect looked great. I’m quite afraid of the dark so much so that I have to keep a small light on when I sleep. Haha..
CC: Nope it’s a tealite holder.
October 6th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I am afraid of darkness. But I think I am afraid of ghost more…
CC: Haha, I’m afraid if I’m in a place other than home.
October 6th, 2008 at 3:43 pm

October 6th, 2008 at 7:26 pm

fear is a powerful emotion.
it brings out the best - and worst - in us…
being afraid is the prelude to being tenacious.
CC: I totally agree. Fear can transform into courage.
October 6th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Yes. I’m afraid of the dark. I even sleep with the lights on if i’m alone.
CC: I used to sleep with lights on, but now have overcome that fear.
October 6th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
I am sometimes afraid of the dark. Worse alone in the dark.
CC: I’m not afraid if I’m not alone. Haha…
October 7th, 2008 at 12:50 am
Sometimes I like to be in a dark and quiet place, helps me to think peacefully.
CC: Good for you! Must enjoy power cut then, I’m able to find peace and serenity with lights dimed or with candle lights.
October 7th, 2008 at 12:52 am
dark will mad me
CC: Light a few candles then!
October 7th, 2008 at 12:55 am
Why do shadows always loom larger in the dark and fears magnified tenfold. Darkness always brings greater urgency to issues soon dispelled with the approaching morning light; our fears are quelled & evaporated which seemed opaque & solid just the night before.
I love your series of pics on light & darkness CC, great display of technique.
CC: Nicely written. Thanks Daryl, I enjoyed taking the photos too.
October 7th, 2008 at 2:47 am
Is that a wall or ceiling light? Cos I’m pretty sure it’s not a UFO. LOL.
Darkness is good because without darkness we won’t appreciate light. And when I sleep, I like to be in complete darkness. No table lamp and no streetlamp shining through the window. Unless of course if I’m staying in hotel, I prefer the bathroom light to be on just as a precaution…
CC: Definitely not a UFO, it’s a glass tealite holder on my coffee table.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:25 am
I’m afraid of the dark! *shivers*
I cannot live by myself.
CC: I don’t like the darkness if I’m alone too.
October 7th, 2008 at 4:28 am

October 7th, 2008 at 5:51 am
I’m afraid of the dark. Even in my own house.,
CC: Me, only if I’m alone. I used to be worse, switching on all the lights when I was home alone. LOL
October 7th, 2008 at 8:59 am
Quite sked, owes sleep wif nitelight on…
CC: I used to only sleep with the night light on, now can do with complete darkness.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:47 am
There’s more beauty in simplicity than in complexity; just like silence is much more meaningful than noise. Sometimes we need to halt for a while, to know where we are running to.
I am glad I recently discovered your piece of land in this digital universe.
CC: You are absolutely right. I’m glad to have you here too. Thank you!
October 7th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
People are afraid of what they don’t understand…
CC: Aren’t we all!
October 7th, 2008 at 3:11 pm

Thanks!
October 7th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
I’m not afraid of the dark but afraid of no light! LOL
CC: I think I’m more afraid of power cut. LOL
October 7th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Sometimes I prefer to be in the dark, especially when sleeping at night. I cannot tolerate a slight bright.
CC: I used to have to sleep with a night light, now I’m ok with complete darkness as long as my husband is with me.
October 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm

Only when under caffeine influence. Caffeine makes me super-imaginative LOL
Nice shot. Must have been an awkward position to get into.
CC: Darkness do provoke imagination, even without caffeine!
Thanks, it’s not that awkward, it’s a tealite holder on my coffee table.
October 8th, 2008 at 6:03 am
looks like a bright royal ring!
I like darkness, out under the stars.
Inside, in a familiar environment, it can tolerate, in an unknown environment, I am shaken.
CC: Same here!
