Hoopla of Chow Yun Fat and Crown Macau commercial.

Author: cc  |  Category: WTH?, random thoughts, titbits

This is the all new commercial of the soon-to-be-opened 6 star casino hotel, Crown Macau. Featuring the one-and-only every-so-coolly Chow Yun Fat. Also starring the third runner up in the 1st season of America’s Next Top Model, Eleyse Sewell.Apparently, the commercial created waves of controversy in Asia, especially China and Hong Kong, with some questioning Chow’s choice of the job and criticizing him for promoting gambling. And these are the same people who sneered at his decision to enter the world of Hollywood stardom (Well, that’s a whole other story). I guess the whole hoopla started due to one reason. According to the press, Chow was paid 25 million HKD for the job.

Now, we all know Chow is famous for his classic role as the seasoned gambler in the God of Gamblers movies. So it is natural and perfectly suitable for him to take on the role of a classy gambler in the commercial. I really don’t see what the problem is here, except there’s a bunch of goody-goody trying to act as the moral police. It’s not as if he’s asking people ‘come come come, gambling is good for you’. The business is already there, approved and built. I don’t see them criticizing the Macau authority for approving such an establishment or any other casino for that matter. The only obvious reason is that the green-eyed monsters in them cannot stand it.

Period. What a bunch of bollocks!

5 reasons.

Author: cc  |  Category: random thoughts

Finally with high-speed broadband to blog hop again, I found out I have been tagged by mott to do this meme. List 5 reasons why I blog. Now, that will take some brain-cracking.

  • I have many thoughts in my mind at any given time. Instead of verbalising these thoughts and annoying the hell out of people, I choose to blog them out and annoy the hell out of people.
  • Because long distance calls are expensive and I am a cheapskate. Blogging is the perfect way for me to keep my friends, especially those back home updated on what’s up (or wrong) with me. (Heh, some said they know more about my craziness me after reading my blog).
  • Because the exhibitionist in me needs to be let out.
  • It reduces white noise at home because ever since I started blogging, I don’t complaint/nag as much to Mr K who thinks it is a godsend.
  • It relishes my life. :P (so cliche, bleh…)

Hey, that’s it. No cracking or damaging done to my limited braincells after all. ;P

I would very much like to tag the following people:
1. Alex
2. Kleio
3. Yen Fen

Attitude.

I don’t usually read forwarded mails, but this one caught my eyes today. I thought about it deeply and would like to share with you.

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.”
So she did And She Had A Wonderful Day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
“Hmmm,” she said,
“I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.”
So she did And She Had A Grand Day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
“Well,” she said, “today I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail.”
So she did And She Had A Fun, Fun Day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head.
“YEAH!” she exclaimed,
“I don’t have to fix my hair today!”
Attitude is everything.
Be kinder than necessary,
For everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle ……
Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly…….

Epiphany toilet.

Author: cc  |  Category: random thoughts

Have you heard of an epiphany toilet? I came across the term when I was watching scrubs, and it got me thinking. Is there such thing?

Come to think about it, it’s true that my thoughts are always clearer when I’m in the bathroom. Great ideas seem to come easily and I can even remember things I usually won’t in the bathroom! It’s incredible I tell you. Many ideas and thoughts seem to be coming out of nowhere when I’m in the bathroom. But it’s the one place people where normally don’t keep pieces of paper in, so pretty soon after I get out, the thoughts would be gone.

Maybe it is the one place where we normally don’t keep other entertainment gadgets in, therefore there isn’t any distraction. We could concentrate and focus our thoughts. Our mind is a magical thing, it wonders whenever it gets an opportunity, and the bathroom is the perfect place for thoughts. It is the one time you’re completely alone by yourself. Hence, many thinking sessions take place when I am bathing. I have drafted letters in my mind, with a constant flow of ideas and rekindled memories. The only problem is, as soon as I leave the bathroom, all those thoughts slip from my mind.

Maybe I should consider moving my work station into the bathroom. Or better yet, set up an office in there. I’ll call it the inspiration room instead.

The question remains, ‘As we cleanse ourself, do our minds become clearer too?’
