Home sweet home

Author: cc  |  Category: needful things, titbits

What have I been up to? Well, I’ve been bitten by the home redecoration bug, so have been spending every free moment, redecorating around the house. Did I mention I love home deco? I do! Most people dread moving house, all the packaging and the cleaning chores drive them crazy. Well, not me. I love packing and cleaning, I see it as a chance to rediscover the bits and pieces that have been packed away and forgotten. It’s also a great chance to decorate another new place! What more can a girl ask for?! Oh, I’m so growing into a neat freak. It’s hard to believe this is a girl who couldn’t even manage to keep her bedroom floor free from clutter growing up. Really, when I was a teenager, my bedroom floor was literally covered by everything imaginable. My dad even threaten to publish the photo he took, to no avail of course. Ha. My parents must be so proud now, they must not in their wildest dream have thought that their little girl would grow up to be a neat freak today. :P So parents out that, there’s no need to sweat over your teenagers’ messy rooms, all hope is not lost. Heh.

I love the old country look in home deco. Spent countless hours online and offline hunting for that aged pieces with a story behind it. I love to look at that light scratch or worn part of the furniture, they tell a story and add much character to them. A clean freak who loves old pieces, can you imagine how much cleaning go into each piece before it’s deemed usable again?! Here I share bit and pieces of my humble abode, a place I can feel totally relax and at ease; a place filled with love and joy.

Wow, that’s a lot of work figuring out how to do that thumbnail thing. Ha. Actually it’s easy, just took me some time to figure that out. Now, I invite you to share your home photos with me too. :)

Men and their flexible brain cells

Author: cc  |  Category: titbits

I was chatting with Kok yesterday, and he was saying he wasn’t sure on the brand of shampoo he uses, which reminds me of a conversation between me and Mr K some time ago.

It was a weekend, Mr K and I were talking about getting a new mac pro. So off he went, going on and on about the amazing specs of the great machine in fine detail. During which I was nodding my head but automatically shutting down my brain and drifting somewhere else.

Mr K *Blah….blah… blah something about ram…..blah*
CC *waiting for the right time to interrupt*
Mr K Blah….but you should know they also added this new feature….blah….
CC *thinking* lalala…..good machine, I get it.
Mr K *went on for another half an hour* blah…..so you see it’s a totally great buy.
CC *whew. finally*OK, get it then. Now, can you please go get this lip balm for me? I really need it urgently. The brand is XXX brand, XXX range. *very short name*
Mr K Huh? What is it? Aiyo, my brain don’t have space for that info, can you please write it down? *continue to blah on geek language*
CC *dumbfounded and scribbled down the whole 5 characters of the said product*

While I’m on the subject, here’s a funny and creative insight into how different men and women perceive the same occasion. (Read the Girl’s Diary first)

A female's perceptive A male's perceptive

Perfect example of how different men and women are. I’m sure many of you have similar experiences. Let’s share it! ;)

Tag marathon – 8 random facts and habits

Author: cc  |  Category: tags, titbits

I’m owing an ocean of tags, so will try and do a tag marathon and clear them all this few days. Sorry for taking so long ya!

Here’s one, tagged by KC ages ago.

8 random facts and habits.

  1. I love to tidy up and decorate my home. A tidy and well-organised house gives a sense of order I need to keep me sane.
  2. I was bitten by a dog when I was 11. The incident left a small faint scar on my upper thigh.
  3. I love horror, triller, crime genres in movies, tv series and books. Anything dark, including dark comedies. My favourite of all time is Six Feet Under. It’s the only series that truly touches my heart and in my opinion, showcased the best moments on TV.
  4. Six Feet Under

  5. I have an ultra-active mind, and although I’m sharing and warm in nature, I don’t share all my thoughts with others and doesn’t show my sorrow easily.
  6. I don’t enjoy clubbing that much. I enjoy staying at home more when I’m free.
  7. I can get pretty paranoid about things.
  8. I love eggs with all my passion. (ever since I was a baby according to my mum.)
  9. I hate it when people eat potato chips in cinema, or make any noises for that matter. I feel an uncontrollably urge to strangle those who do. I think they should be heavily punished and banned from the cinema, forever.

OK, I know I’m supposed to tag 8 people, but I’m pretty sure most people have done this one, so I’m not going to tag anyone this time. ;)

The funny ways people come to quaint melody

Author: cc  |  Category: on blogging, titbits

From time to time, I check my sitemeter to see how people come to my site. And I found some unexpectedly funny ways. There are some who come to my blog via search engines. I noticed since I installed the all-in-one SEO plugin, that has improved a bit. Anyway, my site appeared in the normal keyword search like melody, friend, life etc, but there are some funny keywords that led people here too. The following 2 took the cake, look!

to mate wth woman?! Funny keyword 1: Bloggers with c cup breasts?!!

There were 2 people who came to my blog when they did the search for and ‘to mate wth a woman‘ and get this, ‘blogger with c cup breasts‘!! I almost fell from my chair when I saw that! Especially for the second one, ‘blogger with c cup breasts‘, I mean seriously?!! Apparently my blog came up for these searches as well. I think the 2 reasons that led to that were the bra-fitting article (with the word c cup on it I think), and the fact that I have a category called ‘WTH‘ (stands for what the heck?!), LOL. Well, sorry to disappoint those 2 confused souls ya. I think they must have left my site cursing because they didn’t get to see c cup blogger photos or info about mating with women. Heh. Sorry mates!

Mr K, the saint

Author: cc  |  Category: family, titbits

Mr K is a saint. This fact is normally a talking piece amongst some of my friends and family. Some for the love of god cannot understand how a saint like him married a siao (crazy) person like me. Well, go figure! Neither can I! That guy is the father of all saints I tell you. Nothing gets him angry at all, nothing! I have not seen him loose his temper once, not once in the 7 plus years I’ve come to know and love him. He can stay calm under any circumstances. Scolded? One ear in, one ear out lor; Blamed for something he didn’t do? Ignore it lor, cannot do anything what; Someone being rude at him? Aiya, no need to pay attention to those people one; Fire? Evacuate lor. Just to name a few.

He is the first and only person in my life that does not have a temper, at all. I mean, nothing zero, nada, zip! It really intrigued me in the beginning. The evil me even intentionally tried to make him mad from time to time, just to prove that everybody gets mad sometimes. But no! That is just not in his genes. The few times he tried to pretend ended in laughters. When asked why he doesn’t get worked up at all, I mean doesn’t he get angry or has the urge to throw something sometimes? His answer: Erm…. don’t know ler, I don’t know how to do that.

If you ever tried to picked a fight with someone, you’d know it’s no fun trying to pick a fight with a saint. You can’t get anything out of him. That’s why in our relationship, I am the evil one who’s always making trouble. Or, maybe being a saint is his devilish plan to entice others! Ever thought of that? Huh? Huh?! (stop it cc, just let it go!) Saint people make others go crazy. Heh. Ironic.

MR K
Another failed attempt to make him look bad. Damn it!

Though all is said, I feel extremely lucky and thank my lucky star everyday for him. Where to find another guy like him, who loves me and spoils me as much as he does?! After all, he is the rock that binds me on my feet so this siao woman doesn’t go too crazy. As my father once said when I first went out with MR K seven years ago.

He’s your perfect match, my princess. You won’t find another guy who can stay saint living with you!

So evil, but he’s right…again! ;)

6 weird things about CC

Author: cc  |  Category: tags, titbits

Tagged by Jenny to write about 6 weird things about me. Well, let’s see, are there any weird things about me? I shall count the ways…

tomato

  1. I don’t eat tomato, especially the raw ones. The few times I tried ended in projectile vomiting. I like tomato sauce though.
  2. I am superstitious about numbers. I try to avoid 4s and always try to get 8s.
  3. I go straight to my computer first thing in the morning, and can sit there for hours straight before doing anything else for the day.
  4. I love rainy days even though gloomy weather makes me feel blue.
  5. I am more afraid of the small bugs than the big ones. Big ones I can see, but the small ones, you never know where they’ll get to. That very thought creeps me out.
  6. I have a mild case of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder. There’s certain little routine in my mind that I do when there’s no one’s around.

Now that you know I’m a weirdo, don’t get in my way or I’ll weird you out! Heh.

OK, I would like to geh po the weird things about the following 5 lucky people.

Those were the days

Author: cc  |  Category: needful things, thoughts in my mind, titbits

Gloomy weather, Auckland.

It’s been raining every day lately, cold and wet winter days, makes me want to snuggle in my warm bed and do nothing all day. I always feel nostalgic in gloomy weather, thinking of the sound of heavy rain drops on the roof when I was a kid. Sweet memories.

In a nostalgic mood lately. I was chatting with Davin (who writes about his new life in Canada, with lots of interesting photos) over MSN and we started talking about our childhood and the things we used to collect in those years. Why someone so young is so nostalgic, I wonder? Maybe he has an old soul? Just joking Davin. (Eh, did I just imply that I’m old? NO! I’m youthful, I’m full of youth!)

Anyway, I digressed. As a young teenager, I used to collect a lot of things. From the usual stamps, first day covers, erasers, stickers to the unusual tissue paper wrapper. Major head-scratching moment on the last one. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s those wrappers from small individual packaged tissue paper packs. Haha, lidat also want to collect. But you’d be amazed the various designs they used to produced back then. Not sure whether they still do, haven’t used those tissue packs for a long time. My collection was up to the hundred mark I think. I collected them from my friends and family, then flatten them in between pages of heavy books. It was quite a ‘in’ thing to do amongst the girls then.

Of course, let’s not forget about the ever-so-popular stamps and first day covers. I spent many years in my childhood collecting them. Well, I’m sure many have. Though towards the end it was not so much of me collecting but my mom. Heh. All these collections are neatly kept in stamp books and first day cover holders, and kept in a big box back at home now. I call it a box of memories. Along with the stamps and first day covers, are books of stickers, diary(heh, girly talks), some souvenirs, yearbooks, old address books, photos, letters and postcards. Every time I go back, I would open the box and look through its contents for hours, reminiscing the old days. Every single item in there represents a feeling, a momentous, a story, a part of me. They remind me the different facets of my life that I’ve been through.

Ever since I come to New Zealand, I’ve been keeping a box too. Inside, there are letters, postcards, dried leaves(yes, I collected those), dairy, photos and more letters. I used to write a lot when I first came here, when I was a lonely student with some language barrier. Not anymore, since I made new friends and abandoned those back home. Haha, joking! Everybody just became lazy and stopped writing eventually. Well, we still do every now and then. Just not the mountainous volume that was back then.

box of memories

I treasure these boxes of memories dearly. For I imagine to pass them to my children one day, maybe many years down the road, when I have become an old lady. To let them know of my days and thoughts. To serve as some sort of memoir, a mark of my existence.

Memories, good and bad, all be treasured, all be buried in the deepest of my heart.
